The output from the DI Box will plug into a balanced XLR input on your interface. I recommend that you try one that is made specifically for acoustic guitars.īesides acting as a pre-amp for your passive pickup - The most important thing a Direct Box will do is convert the unbalanced signal (subject to the noise you are experiencing) to a balanced signal that will cancel out or otherwise eliminate much of the electronic noise in the signal chain. But you may benefit tremendously in most applications (particularly recording) by using what is known as a DI Box (which is abbreviation for Direct Injection or Direct Input) also referred to as simply a "Direct Box". Your guitar connected to the right mixer and amplification system (PA or acoustic amp) may not require a standalone Piezo Pre-amp. The better results you have with your bass might reflect the difference between the way the signal is processed and output from a passive magnetic pickup (typical on most electric guitars and electric bass guitars) which is quite different than from a passive Piezo pickup which your acoustic guitar likely has. So the issue may be in the Tascam itself. Checking some on-line reviews of the Tascam you are using suggests that other users have experienced noise and electrical interference issues with that interface similar to what you have described. Theoretically an interface or mixer with a "guitar" level input or "Hi-Z" input should allow you to input the signal from your passive pickup with good results. This is accomplished on your interface with a switch that can switch the right input from "mic/line" to "guitar". The Tascam interface you pictured does have an input switchable to "guitar" - which is short for - high impedance input from a source such as an electric guitar or bass with passive magnetic pickups or an acoustic guitar with a passive pickup as yours seems to have. Without a pre-amp the amplifier or mixer must supply this extra boost or compensate for the higher impedance in the circuitry. The undersaddle pickup in your guitar is most likely a piezo pickup which would be a high impedance pickup which basically means the signal will have a high resistance and need an extra boost in the chain to get enough volume. I don't believe the problem is in your guitar. Nice guitar! I looked up the specs on the manufacturer's website and they suggest it is in fact a "passive" under saddle pickup which means the pickup does not have "active electronics" or a built in pre-amp and therefore would not require a battery.

That's less than $1 per gig! I just ordered it so I'll perform the benchmark when I get it. Very nice and smooth compared to without the ReadyBoost. Say I have CS5 running, and an open browser with several tabs going. The rig starts up about the same, but multi-tasking is better also. I have noticed a nice increase in applications starting, and when I play my Cod2, the maps do indeed load faster. I am using the same flash drive on a 2gig duo core Win7 64bit rig. For the price, maybe I'll pick up this 16GB one from HP. So an external USB mini flash drive is starting to look good. I was going to use a SDHC class 6 that I plug in the built-in SD reader, but its write speeds were 4k: 0.034 and 4k-qd32: 0.034 - which is kinda pitiful. Looks like the Staples Micro 4GB has pretty good 4k write speeds for a flash drive. Tags: benchmarks flash drive hdd recycling ssd vista windows 7 If anyone has some wisdom to share, I'd love to read it! I'm a novice in this area and only able to form broad hypothesis at this time! There's of course no question that ReadyBoost is only useful where there is no SSD, but HDDs will be around for a while and with those cheap new PCs on the market (occasionally $100-$200), using Windows 7, an old flash-drive may find new life. Though I wish the flash drive performed better, I'm still glad it seems to be improving laptop responsiveness a little. I'm just glad I have regular HDD's for storage since this one's only 120 GB. It's not the best SSD, but for the price I got it at the time, it's still the best improvement I've recognized to PC's in probably 10 years. (More common or full size 1.2" Flash Drive) I liked testing these drives, so I ended up testing more. While I admit maybe it's a placebo effect, my laptop has seemed a little more responsive and every bit helps. (Seagate Momentus - ST9500325AS Laptop 2.5")Īt this point, judging from the higher read speeds of lower sized files, I'm going to make a hypothesis that, ReadyBoost is a tool on my laptop. Amazon sells SanDisk micro flash drives that look as if they're the same ones but cheaper under a different brand. It only sticks out of the laptop about 3/5 of a centimeter, which is great because I can leave it in without accidentally snapping it off. The lunar-looking base is actually not a complete circle – it is more like a semi-circle, so it will fit up against flat surfaces like walls without much of an issue. This base has three little holes in it, and the three holes of the vibrator fit snugly into the three holes of the base in order to hold the spaceship vibrator upright for storage or display. As the design of this sex toy is as a spaceship vibrator, this sex toy also comes with a small, plastic “lunar-looking” base. The display stand (yes, this sex toy has a display stand!) is adorable. You’ll end up destroying it getting the toy out, though, so it’s really not suitable for storage. I love that they have the little “Man Eater” vibrator guys spread through the packaging picture it’s really cute, and the packaging looks nice. It does have that “hard-to-open” sealing around the edges which can be frustrating though. It comes in plastic, blister-pack packaging that displays the toy clearly through the plastic window. The packaging for the Retro Pocket Rocket is really cute. It comes with its own display stand in case you want to show off your little vibrating friend. It’s about five inches long, intended for external use, and about an inch in diameter. It takes one AA battery for use, and it’s available in both a yellow and red color. The Retro Pocket Rocket is a rocket ship vibrator made by Big Teaze Toys that is made entirely from plastic.
